Charles Wiseman, grandfather of Charles Wilson Wiseman, came to America in 1832 and settled in Switzerland County, Indiana. In 1849 he was married to Naomi Bray, daughter of Samuel Bray and Susannah Ball. Charles and Naomi had five children; the two oldest sons, Samuel and Henry settled in Kosciusko County, Indiana about 1880. They married sisters, Amanda and Laura Alexander.

Samuel Bray and Susannah Ball were both grandchildren of Henry and Cathryn Bray who came from Hampshire County, Virginia to Nelson County, Kentucky after the American Revolution. Samuel's parents were John and Nancy (Morgan?) Bray. Susannah's parents were James and Margaret (Bray) Ball. Samuel and Susannah lived their adult lives in Switzerland County, Indiana.
William Alexander, son of William Alexander and Lucy Sprague, married Rachel Van Curen, daughter of Henry James Van Curen and Elizabeth Terwilliger, in 1859. Both had been married previously; there were a total of 17 children from their combined marriages. They lived in Kosciusko County, Indiana.
