This list of Web Site Links was created in March 2007 for the Beginning Genealogy Workshop sponsored by the Peabody Public Library and the Genealogical Society of Whitley County, Indiana. It is not intended to be a comprehensive list of 'all' sites of use to genealogists but rather a starting point, just to give you an idea of what kind of information is out there on the World Wide Web. I have used many of these sites but some were recommended by Judy Richter of the Noble County Genealogical Society. As of March 25, 2007 all of these links worked. It may not be obvious, but some of these sites include a help feature for searching or using the site, you just have to take the time to find it.

If you want to get an idea of some of the genealogy blogs that are ‘out there’ check out this site. There are 550+ blogs listed in 20+ categories, such as News, Tips, Personal Research, Preservation, Localities, etc. Once you click on a category, the blogs are listed in alphabetical order. You can also search for specific blogs or search the posts for specific text.

This is a companion blog to my Kinexxions website. It focuses on the families that I'm researching as well as some research tips and links to interesting sites. Links to blogs I read are in the right hand column.

This blog was created in February 2007 specifically for posting items related to Whitley County history and families. Currently posting articles transcribed from Whitley County newspapers.

He has some good tips on searching RootsWeb, the LDS International Genealogical Index (IGI), message boards, PERSI, and other resources. He provides examples of the searches he's made along with the results.
